Home-Buying Tips

Home-Buying Tips
  1. Talk to at least 2 lenders. Remember to look at the rate and the points to determine what is best for you. Just because a rate is low, the lender may have hidden costs. Be sure to compare apples to apples.
  2. You should bring a notepad to take notes or take pictures/videos when viewing homes. Otherwise, the houses will begin to run together.
  3. Keep all documents in a file on your desktop for easy access for future reference. This is essential during the loan process because you will be asked for the same document several times.
  4. Do NOT make any large purchases once under contract (ie.. cars, motorcycles, trips, furniture, etc..) without consultation with your lender, as you can lose the opportunity to purchase your home.
  5. Don’t apply for a new credit card. Don’t close any credit cards unless it is the lender’s recommendation.
  6. Only change jobs after consulting with the lender.
  7. Don’t miss any payments. Your credit will be pulled when you apply for a loan. It will also be pulled a day or two before closing.
